Stefan Levin, composer and guitarist, is known for his deep, dark and vibrant music – inspired by ancient times, foreign cultures aiming to create music in transformative level. His fascination for contemporary dance has brought his music to the main dance stages all over the world, from Havana to Shanghai, performed by highly acclaimed companies as the Cullberg Ballet, Stockholm 59North and The Royal Swedish Opera Ballet. In the autumn of 2014 he was commissioned a new piece for New York City Centre, New York, with dancers from Metropolitan (ABT). (More at www.stefanlevin.com)

In the spring of 2014 Nyman & Levin finally met to create new music. The “instant music” concept was born, where they “try to empty the old repertoire and phrases from our musical bodies and souls and avoid repeating patterns we’ve played before, to steer clear of clichés of any specific style and thereby hope to find a unique and new sound for a guitar duo”. Main goal: To pick up the vivid tradition of improvisation that was represented until ca 1830 in western classical music – and explore it in the language of our time…

Nyman/Levin welcome you to take part on this musical exploration in sound – to have an experience of different levels, from brutal physical rhytms to soundscapes with emotional peacefulness – all together in an intuitively created music that they hope you will enjoy!
